Chief Coordinator
Prof. Gulshan Sachdeva brings over thirty years of academic and consultancy experience in international settings, with a specialization in regional integration, development cooperation, and India’s external economic engagements. Currently on leave, he is a Professor at the Centre for European Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Prof. Sachdeva was awarded the Jean Monnet Chair by the European Commission and has coordinated the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at JNU. He is also the Book Series Editor for Europe-Asia Connectivity (Palgrave Macmillan) and Co-Editor of the Asia-Europe Journal (Springer). Earlier, he served as Editor-in-Chief of International Studies (SAGE).
Prof. Sachdeva is a founding member of the Forum for Indian Development Cooperation (FIDC). He headed projects for the ADB and The Asia Foundation on regional cooperation at the Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul and has also served as a consultant to ILO. Previously, he was Chairperson of the Centre for European Studies, Director of the Energy Studies Programme, and Director of the UGC Europe Area Studies Programme at JNU. Prof. Sachdeva held the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) Chair at the University of Leuven and has been a visiting faculty at various universities, including the University of Amsterdam, University of Antwerp, UAB Barcelona, Corvinus University of Budapest, University of Warsaw, University of Trento, Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, and the Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow. He has contributed to more than 100 research papers in academic journals and edited books. Some of his recent publications include Challenges in Europe: Indian Perspectives (Palgrave Macmillan); India in a Reconnecting Eurasia (Washington: CSIS); and India-Africa Development Partnership Dynamics (FIDC/RIS). He holds PhD in Economics from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest.
