The Context
The COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network (Co-WIN) is a cloud-based, tech-driven platform developed by India to support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the COVID-19 vaccination process. Serving as the digital backbone of India’s vaccination strategy, Co-WIN provides real-time data on vaccine stocks, storage conditions, and the tracking of vaccine recipients. This scalable, inclusive, and open platform functions as a "Digital Public Good" that can be adopted by countries worldwide to strengthen their public health systems. Co-WIN is designed to ensure equitable vaccine distribution, monitor vaccine utilization, and minimize wastage while supporting universal vaccination coverage.
